Good morning everyone! I know that I’m out of order here in the challenge manis – hope you’ll forgive me! For a reminder, I’m doing a June/July nail challenge with the Hobby Polish Bloggers’ group. Here’s the list:
So today, I have for you a manicure inspired by a bathing suit. Here is my manicure next to my inspiration:
I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors New Wave as a base, then used one of my new favorites, Sinful Colors Lavander, to make the squares.
I’m not happy with how the squares came out, I really do need a thinner brush. Here is the brush I am using now:
If you use a nail art brush, do you use one that is thinner than this? Do you have any recommendations? What do you think about my inspiration and how I carried it out? Don’t forget to see what the other ladies are up to:
You did great with this challenge theme. I think it turned out really nice 🙂
Thank you Lisa! 🙂 I had fun trying to narrow down a whole bunch of designs. 😛
I love it! I think the squares look great 🙂 I used a brush set I got at Sally’s that had a long striping brush, a shorter striping brush, a short detail brush, and a flat brush for cleanup. But you don’t need to go get a new set; there’s a great video from MrCandiiPants on YouTube that explains how to trim your brush using nail clippers!
Thank you so much for the tip! 🙂 I was wondering if I could do it myself, but was hesitant. 🙂
I have a similar set, but I bought mine at a local cosmetics/nail art supply store near me.
As far as nail art stuff goes, the stores here just pretty much suck. LOL
Yeah, I hear you. It was like that in Tucson too. But here in Denver there’s all these little shops with those kind of things.
This is really nice !! Well done 😀
Thank you! 🙂 I’m just loving Lavander.
I bought this set and love it! You can find a 10% code for the Born Pretty Store on a lot of blogs too! 🙂 http://www.bornprettystore.com/15pc-nail-design-brush-dotting-drawing-p-439.html
So glad to know someone who can give a testimonial to that set! I was looking at it, but you never know with some sets, you know? LOL
So pretty! I thought it was a stamp that conveniently had the same pattern as the bathing suit, at first. I use a 10/0 paint brush for my detail work, but I keep meaning to get a 5/0 one for tiny work… I got mine on sale for like a dollar at the art materials store because when I want a new brush I want it NOW and don’t have time to wait for shipping. lol
Oh, I am the same way. Thanks for mentioning the dimensions (not sure if right word) of the brushes, when I go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby next time, I will check and see what they have. 🙂
That is such a pretty design and I love the way the colors work together. I really really really want to join a challenge but I am such a failure at putting things up on time. I’ve only ever done one 31 day challenge and it took like 5 months to get it done. LOL
I’ve been trying to ease myself into harder challenges. LOL! I’m going to try a 31 day challenge in July, here’s hoping I can actually complete it!
WOW!
