Warning, long and wordy post to follow:

Good morning everyone! I was contacted by Wantable a couple of weeks ago, asking if I’d like to receive and review one of their subscription boxes. They usually have three boxes to choose from: Makeup, Accessories, Intimates; for a limited time, they also have a Halloween Makeup box. You can purchase boxes one by one, for $40; or subscribe for $36/month, which is a yearly savings of $48. If you subscribe, you can still have your pick of the categories above.

I chose a Makeup box (surprise, surprise). When you first sign up, you decide on the category you want, then you answer a series of questions for that category. Since I chose a Makeup box, my questions had to do with what products I love, like, or dislike; within each product category I then got to pick the style or color that I love, like, or dislike. I picked that I love brows, nail polish, and tools; I like eyeliner, blush, highlighter, lip color, lash product, bronzer, eye shadow. My order was then sent. I received a tracking number (I think) the next day, and my box was in my mailbox within 2 or 3 days. That’s awesome!

When I received my box, this lovely card was sitting on top of everything:

My packing slip had a reminder of the things I had picked as “love” and “like”, and on the bottom half had a description of the items included in my box. It also included the retail price of each item in my box, which I’ve double-checked against the makers’ websites for comparison.

I received: Japonesque Travel Angled Foundation Brush ($24.50-$25), Cailyn Cosmetics Gel Eyeliner ($21), Manna Kadar mascara ($19), Lise Watier Solo Eyeshadow Power ($18), Laqa & Co Nail Polish ($11). This makes the box worth about $94.

First up is the Japonesque Travel Angled Foundation Brush:

The angled brush gives you a bit better way to get into the difficult to reach parts of your face. This is also a bit stiffer than my Sephora Foundation brush, which I found, to my surprise, that I liked.

Next up is the shadows: both the cream eyeshadow (in sunrise peach) from the sample packet, and the solo eyeshadow (in prune matte).

I liked the application of the solo eyeshadow, but it was hard to get the cream eyeshadow out of its little container. But, I adore the cream eyeshadow. It was so light and fluffy (if you can call eyeshadow fluffy). Usually I despise cream eyeshadows because they settle into every little wrinkle, but this one was really amazing.

Next up is the Cailyn Cosmetics Gel Eyeliner in Iron.

I’ve received a Cailyn Gel Eyeliner in a different beauty box, and I still love this brand. This isn’t a true grey, it’s more of a gunmetal grey. Application with this is smooth and easy (no surprise).

Lastly for the makeup is Manna Kadar Extreme Curl Mascara:

This was a nice mascara, but nothing outstanding, in my opinion. Mascara is just one of those makeup products that I always think I’m getting scammed on, you know? I always feel like I’m paying too much. My measurement for mascara is always pitting it against my two favorites: benefit They’re Real and Maybelline Great Lash. This is a nice mascara, but the brush and application reminds me of Great Lash mascara.

So, let’s look at all these products on my face, hmmm? (Please excuse my curly hair that didn’t want to cooperate with me, okay?)

I think all these products really created a lovely look. 😀 Lastly, I need to show you pictures of the nail polish I received in my box, Laqa & Co. Greedy Guts.

I am in love with this polish. It went on so smoothly, and leveled so nicely. This is two lovely coats, though I suppose for full opacity I could have done 3. Also, the long brush takes a bit getting used to. Here is a shot of how long it is:

What do you think of the items I’ve received in my box? There are definitely items that I’ll be looking forward to buying!

  1. Wow, that’s a really nice selection of product you got there! Looks great on you, too.
But that LAQU brush is just cracking me up – it’s like eight feet long! You practically have to stand across the room to paint your nails 😉
