Celebrate the Occasion Nail Art Challenge: Memorial Day

Good morning everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful week so far. Today I have a special manicure for you, to honor the theme of “Memorial Day.” Some of you may know that a few years ago, my uncle’s remains were returned to my family. His helicopter had been shot down during the Vietnam conflict, and his remains hadn’t been recovered for almost 40 years. Memorial Day has always held a special place in my family for many years, and I wanted to do something to honor my uncle.

I decided I would recreate part of the patch we received, this is what his company was called:

I’ve used Verity Hot Baby Blue for the background (reviewed here). I then used OPI Did You ‘Ear About Van Gogh, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Sephora by OPI High Maintenance, essie licorice, and JulieG Canary Islands.

I hope you enjoyed this manicure, I know I enjoyed creating it. If you celebrate or otherwise enjoy your Memorial Day weekend, please remember those families who honor their loved ones.

Let’s take a look at the other manicures for today:

I just love what everyone is coming up with so far, aren’t you? Until tomorrow,

  1. God bless your uncle for making the ultimate sacrifice. I honestly don’t like knowing someone who has lost someone. I don’t want that to sound bad. There are too many who have lost someone and I just don’t want them to be among those I know. I worry about my son and son-in-law, just as much as I worried about my (now ex) husband and myself during the first Desert Storm. Bless your family!
