Yay! I finally have all 12 of these polishes and can share them with you. Thanks to Amy of onepolishedmonkey, who picked up Sagittarius for me at her Hot Topic. Let’s go through them all and my notes, hang on to yer butts! (Yes, I know my photo is a little dark, but I took what I could get in the limited time I had available. 😦 )
Aries, 2 coats and no top coat
This had a good formula and covered well in 1 coat; 2 coats deepens the color.
Taurus, 2 coats and no top coat
Formula was thick, even for me. It can be draggy, so be careful with your application. It dries to a sort of matte finish? It isn’t like how Virgo dries, but it isn’t shiny either.
Gemini, 2 coats and no top coat by itself
Gemini, 1 coat over Scorpio
This was runny and sheer! I did color correct a bit, it’s more of a green tint.
Cancer, 2 coats plus top coat
This was also runny and sheer; it dries with a bit of grit to it. It’s more teal green in real life than vibrant blue – I did try to do some color correcting here.
Leo, 2 coats and no top coat
This is sheer but it has a good formula.
Virgo, 2 coats and no top coat
This is thick and applies unevenly; have a light hand with your application. I compared it to OPI Suede We’ll Always Have Paris.
Libra, 3 coats and no top coat
This is a jelly, so it’s sheer. It does apply unevenly.
Scorpio, 2 coats and no top coat
I could have done 1 coat but 2 deepens the color. This has a good formula but be careful because it’s a stainer!
Sagittarius, 2 coats and no top coat
This has a good formula, covers well in 1 coat but needs 2 for full coverage. It dries with a bit of texture to it, which unlike Cancer feels like it’s supposed to be a texture polish.
Capricorn, 2 coats and no top coat
This is a slightly runny formula. I’ll have a comparison post on this coming soon!
Aquarius, 3 coats and no top coat
This is super sheer but otherwise has a good formula.
Pisces, 2 coats and no top coat
This is more green than I thought it would be looking at the bottle! Good formula.
Now I know that people are having lots of trouble finding these and I hope that Hot Topic will put them on their website soon (they are not as of this writing). Keep checking the website and keep checking in stores! I think I lucked out in finding 11 out of 12 at my local store – I must have hit right after they got a shipment.
Update: I tweeted at Hot Topic and received this response, if you’re on twitter, let them know that you are looking for them!
Phew! If you’re still with me – bless you for your patience. Please share and pin the polishes you’re loving the most, it helps me as a blogger. If you have any comparison suggestions, especially with other mainstream brands, I will attempt to dig out polishes if I have them. Let me know what you think!
These are really nice. How much are they? I rarely go to Hot Topic but there is one across the parking lot from where I work.
At my Hot Topic they were $5 each but buy one get one free.
