I was perusing instagram the other day (as one does when one is ignoring one’s children *ahem*) and noticed someone I follow (samantha1027) posted a photo about #polishswatchsunday. Curious about it, I clicked on the profile and wanted to jump in! The prompt for this Sunday is “toolbox red” and I pulled out an oldie: OPI The Thrill of Brazil. And because I can’t leave well enough alone, I created some nail art to go with. 🙂
This was a One-Coat Wonder, albeit a bit thin of formula. And it stinks like old polish but I love that smell so it doesn’t bother me. 😀
I then created a gradient with The Thrill of Brazil, Midnight in Moscow, and Nevermore. I don’t know if I’ve ever done this classic red to black gradient but I’m glad I did! 😀
To create the nail art, I followed this tutorial on instagram. I used White on Time as a base, then colored in with Beach Please and then shaded with the other colors. Finally I used a few of the shards from Fractured Spirit to create depth. It didn’t quite come out the same as the tutorial, but it still looks nice, I think! I was going to do the same on the other hand, but this took me at least an hour to create and I was tired. >.<
If you’d like to play along for next Sunday, please check out Polish.Swatch.Sunday on instagram. The hashtag for June is #polishswatchjun18, be sure to tag @polish.swatch.sunday and @nailcraftaddict to be reposted.
