I’ve been crying off and on for days, and this manicure made me tear up even more. Confused? Well, I’ll attempt to clear it up. If you’re new to my blog, you might not know that this week marks the 8th anniversary of my mom’s death. Usually on the actual anniversary date, my kids and I go perform Random Acts of Kindness in our community in her honor. (#RAOK4Lucy on Thursday to follow along.) I’m really struggling this year though. Maybe it’s because as my youngest two grow up, I’m realizing more and more not only what my mom is missing, but what they are missing by not having known her. Let’s see more of this manicure and then I’ll tell you why it made me cry this morning.
This applied really nicely and I’m sure if my nails would frigging grow (obviously it’s clear how much I had to chop them this weekend!) you could see each thermal state much easier. In my opinion, I would call this a multi-thermal; I clearly can see four different colors – clear when hot, periwinkle in transition, blue when cold, and purple/blue when freezing (guess how I know that last one).
I’ve been experimenting with new photos and I saw this kind of photo from Alice at Blossom Street and I wanted to try it out this morning. And when I saw the label, I started crying again; my mom’s name was Lucy. I mean, I knew that when I ordered this polish what the name of it was, of course. But yesterday when I needed to do my nails (yes, needed), I just picked this one without looking too closely. Call it fate, or coincidence, or a God thing, but it made me cry happy tears.
