12 Days Of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Freestyle

Hi everyone! I can’t believe it’s the last day of the 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art challenge. I’ve had a lot of fun, but for the last prompt of freestyle, I’m kind of disappointed.

I really wanted to do a successful watermarble, because I haven’t done one in awhile. But I think I’ve lost my watermarble mojo. :/

I started off with 1 coat of OPI Alpine Snow. I then used OPI Over and Over A-Gwen (red) and Here Today Aragon Tomorrow (green) for my watermarble.

I really was frustrated because I’d already tried to watermarble (unsuccessfully) with some holo polishes. (Total flop, FYI.) So I didn’t really like how that looked and slapped a coat of China Glaze Golden Enchantment on top.

I dunno, I’m kinda meh on this. My family liked it, and I’m keeping it on for awhile to see if it’ll grow on me.

Let’s see what everyone else did:

Which way do you like the watermarble, with or without the coat of Golden Enchantment? Any tips on successfully watermarbling with holo polishes?

12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Nightmare Before Christmas

Good morning all! I gotta tell you, I almost didn’t complete the prompt of Nightmare Before Christmas for the 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art challenge because I was super stressed and tired last night. But I persevered and I’m glad I did.

Let me first show you my inspiration picture. This is from the part of the movie where Jack Skellington stumbles into Christmastown and sings the song “What’s This?”, which is my favorite song of the movie.

First I started off with 2 coats of Sinful Colors Into the Blue 1194. This is without top coat and it’s just so creamy and beautiful. I couldn’t remember if it was a stainer though, so I used 2 coats of base coat.

Then I did my first radial gradient with Sinful Colors Into the Blue and Sail La Vie 1196 (swatched just recently!). I was actually really happy how this came out! I need to try out more radial gradients.

I then used Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Black on Black to create Jack. He didn’t turn out the best, but he’s okay, I think? To create the strand of lights I used Sinful Colors Calypso 1181, Eva So Bright 1258 (reddish), Pull Over 955 (yellow), Rise & Shine 940 (teal green), and Matte About Blue 1487.

Overall, it came out pretty close, didn’t it? Let’s see some more Nightmare Before Christmas inspired manis!

I can’t believe this is the second to last prompt for this challenge. I have had a great time creating nail art again! Would you like to see more nail art?

12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Christmas Cookies

Hi everyone! Today’s prompt for the 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art challenge is Christmas cookies and I’m not sure I like what I came up with. Take a look:

I started off with 2 coats of OPI A-Piers to Be Tan, and wow, is it the most perfect gingerbread color ever. LOL! 😀 Next I used Alpine Snow, Color So Hot it Berns (red), and Here Today..Aragon Tomorrow (green) for the cookies with sprinkles.

I know there are more inventive manis than mine for today so let’s see them:

Okay, let me have it: fail or not? I tried something else and it didn’t work, and my stars aren’t the best. But my husband knew right off the bat what I was going for, so I guess that’s something, right?

12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Penguins

Good morning! Today for the prompt of penguins for the 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge, I was inspired by these super adorable penguin cookies over at The Bearfoot Baker. Go ahead, I’ll wait while you check them out.

I started off with two coats of Wet N Wild’s Teal Slowly and See. I then used WnW French White Creme, Black Creme, Red Red, and The Clock Strikes Orange to create the penguins, snowflakes, and the little fish.

I can’t wait for more cute penguins!

I quite like these little guys, and it wasn’t too hard to create them. I hope you have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow!

12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Presents

Hi everyone! Quick posting here this morning. We had a rare snow day called yesterday (first time in 25 years) and so this morning I’m behind on my blogging and other work!

For today’s 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge prompt of presents, I started off with 2 coats of JulieG White Orchid. I then used Glitter Gal Cosmetics Dorothy’s Revenge with star stencils as a backdrop. Finally I used an unnamed JulieG minty green nail polish for my bows.

It isn’t my favorite look, but it isn’t too bad, is it? Let’s see the rest of the nail art for today:

I hope you are having a fairly pleasant week. Roads are crappy here (hence the snow day called for all schools yesterday) so I’m white-knuckling it while going anywhere. Does your area ever get snow days called?

12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Candy Cane

Hi everyone! Another day with the 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge and this time the prompt is “candy canes”. Well, you should know by now that I do things a bit differently. I wanted to do a pinwheel type look with minty candy cane colors but it didn’t quite turn out.

I started out with 3 thin coats of Glitter Gal Cosmetics White Pointer. I then painted Glitter Gal Cosmetics Good On Ya and Bloke Chaser on a sponge to create a gradient over the pinwheel vinyls.

I think maybe if I had tried a radial gradient it would have turned out better? Or painted every other stripe red or green? I mean, I still like it, it’s just not very candy cane-ish. Now let’s turn to the other manis in the challenge:

Let me know what you think of today’s mani!

12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Ugly Sweater

Good morning all! I hope you’re ready for today’s 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge prompt of “ugly sweater”.

I googled for awhile (read: past the first page of results!) and found this image that I decided to base my nails on. I started with 2 coats of China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, it’s perfect!

I then used China Glaze Liquid Leather to create kind of an animal print. (I loved this stage, btw, I didn’t want to do anything else!)

Lastly, I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White and China Glaze Mediterranean Charm for the candy canes.

Here’s a look at everyone else’s nail art for today:

I’d love to know your thoughts on my crazy mani! My husband took one look at it, and said, “Yup, it’s an ugly sweater, alright!” I think he meant it as a compliment? LOL!
