I was perusing instagram the other day (as one does when one is ignoring one’s children *ahem*) and noticed someone I follow (samantha1027) posted a photo about #polishswatchsunday. Curious about it, I clicked on the profile and wanted to jump in! The prompt for this Sunday is “toolbox red” and I pulled out an oldie: OPI The Thrill of Brazil. And because I can’t leave well enough alone, I created some nail art to go with. 🙂

Sideways French with Mentality Kindness and China Glaze Queen B

Good morning everyone! I hope you are having a great morning. Today I have a fun and simple NOTD to show you!

I started off with 2 coats of China Glaze Queen B, one of my favorite polishes! It’s just dark and vampy and delicious (yeah…I said it…delicious!).

I then used one coat of A Girl Obsessed Rarity on part of the nail, and the other part I used a french manicure guide and Mentality Kindness. (Please note: I no longer support Mentality Nail Polish, if you’d like more information about this, please read my open Facebook post.)

It was nice to pull out some of my “old” nail polishes and put them together in a manicure. I really don’t think I’ll ever get tired of Rarity, to be honest with you!

I hope you are getting ready for the Easter weekend (if you celebrate). My kids have their Easter break coming up and I don’t think I’m ready for that! 😛 Plus all I heard about today is that April Fools’ Day is tomorrow and I should watch out. LOL.

I’m not much into pulling pranks, so you won’t see anything on the blog about it tomorrow….are you into pulling pranks? What’s the best one you’ve ever done?

Toadstool Skittlette Nail Art

Ahhh, good Sunday morning to you! I got to sleep in today – well, everyone slept in! Isn’t it nice when you can do that? Today I have a manicure “from the vault” that I came across the other day. It’s such a fun manicure, I just had to share it with you!

I started off with two coats of Milani Almond Bliss on my pointer and ring finger, and making a gradient with A Girl Obsessed What’s the Tealio. Obviously I have just What’s the Tealio on my middle finger. On my pinky, I started with a base of Milani Splendid Strawberry and created dots with Almond Bliss.

Someone had commented that it reminded them of the toadstools in Super Mario Bros, and now that I see that, I can’t “unsee” it, you know? LOL! AGO What’s the Tealio is one of my favorite green/teal holos and I really need to pull it out and use it!

A Girl Obsessed Stone of Happy Dreams and A Dream is a Wish swatches + review

Good morning everyone! I apologize for disappearing yesterday, I needed to take a mental health day. Do you just ever have a day, where from beginning to end, it’s just bleh? Yeah, that was my day yesterday. Anyway, I’m back at it today, and I have two pretty polishes to show you!

Both of these polishes are customs from A Girl Obsessed (one of my favorite indies, and I can’t wait until she’s back making polishes!): Stone of Happy Dreams (my custom polish) and A Dream is a Wish (custom polish for Naked Without Polish). I really wanted a polish that was reminiscent of my mom’s black opal ring (which is not really black). I named it as I did because opals are often called “stones of happy dreams”. This is 3 coats:

A Dream is a Wish is based on the song (of course) from Cinderella, and I think it’s for Cinderella’s castle at Walt Disney World. I think these two pair perfectly together, don’t you? This is 1 coat + dabbing, shown first with AGO Matte-ict top coat, then with AGO Magpie Shine:

I hope that Sam will be opening her shop soon so that everyone can buy these two polishes for themselves! I’d love to know your thoughts on these two. 🙂 Or tell me what’s your go-to, fool-proof way to get out of the doldrums? I’ll talk to you soon!

Happy Birthday to Me nail art!

Good morning everyone! It’s my birthday today! 😀 Any excuse to do nail art is okay by me, so I have some funky nails for my birthday. 🙂

I saw this awesome picture from Marianne Kirby’s instagram and knew I wanted to try my hand at recreating it. So I’ve used A Girl Obsessed Stone of Happy Dreams (a custom polish) on my pinky and thumb, Pahlish Fields of Provence on my index and ring fingers, OPI You’re So Vain-illa on my middle finger. I used single chevron decals from KBShimmer to create the look on my middle finger. I also used Mentality Tempest as a base for KBShimmer Whole Lava Lovin’ (both reds). I do have nail mail coming today (pretties from Pahlish and Enchanted Polish), so this probably won’t even stay on my nails all day! 😛

I have no plans for my birthday today, just relaxing and enjoying the day. I’ll be honest, my birthday and other holidays are pretty hard for me since my mom died, so I’ll just try to honor her as best as I can today (and every day). What do you think of my nails today? I’d love to know what you did on your last birthday! Did you rock it out or just have a relaxing day? 🙂

A Girl Obsessed Fractured Spirit review + swatches

Good morning – it’s FRIDAY! *happy dance* I don’t know why I get deliriously happy over Fridays, I mean some weeks my days just all blend together. But I still do. 🙂 Today I have a lovely polish for you from A Girl Obsessed called “Fractured Spirit.” I bought this as part of a duo with “Cold Shattered Heart“.

Fractured Spirit is described as “a blue/purple iridescent flakie topcoat with purple and silver holo shreds.” I’ve used 1 coat + dabbing over  AGO But He Loves Me (2 coats). Let’s first take a look with AGO Matte-Ict over the top:

Now with AGO Magpie Shine:

I then decided to try it over AGO Candied Orchid. First with AGO Matte-ict:

Then with AGO Magpie Shine:

This is seriously such a fun topper! As I said, I did one coat plus some dabbing and spreading for this topper but I honestly don’t mind. Right now the AGO shop is on vacation, but like AGO on Facebook to keep up with all her news!

OMD2 Nail Art Challenge: Blacklight Funky French

Good morning, it’s Monday morning and I’m trying to suck down hot coffee to wake up. 😉 I know that today’s prompt isn’t really a blacklight funky french, but that’s how I decided to do it!

I started off with 3 coats of A Girl Obsessed Berry Mojito:

I then used a stripe of Sinful Colors Rise & Shine (Matte) over the top. I know my stripes aren’t perfect, but I guess that’s what you get for doing nail art at 11:00 at night.
