Magnetic Oil Slick nail art manicure with KBShimmer

Polishes used:
American Classics Growth Spurt base coat, 1 coat
Cult Nails Nevermore, 1 coat as a base
KBShimmer Spaced Out [previously used in a magnetic mani]

I don’t know what my obsession is with getting an oil slick puddle look on my nails but I keep trying it! This version is a magnetic version. I started with a black base, then used the distressed stamping technique with the different magnetic polishes. Then I used 1 thick coat of a non-quick-dry top coat and hit each nail with a magnet. Last, I used a QDTC to finish the look off.

I was perusing instagram the other day (as one does when one is ignoring one’s children *ahem*) and noticed someone I follow (samantha1027) posted a photo about #polishswatchsunday. Curious about it, I clicked on the profile and wanted to jump in! The prompt for this Sunday is “toolbox red” and I pulled out an oldie: OPI The Thrill of Brazil. And because I can’t leave well enough alone, I created some nail art to go with. 🙂

This was a fun mani, mix of fun and bright and dark and mysterious. A good summer manicure!

I kinda just grabbed some polishes and smooshed them around on my nails with ripped up makeup sponges. And then I couldn’t stop taking pictures because it was so shifty and pretty. 😛

12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Wrapping Paper

Good morning! For today’s prompt of ‘wrapping paper’ for the 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge, I took some inspiration from a photo I saw on lipglossandcrayon’s instagram page.

I started with 3 coats of Cult Nails Thrive on all the nails except the ring finger. I was kind of disappointed in the formula of Thrive, it was lumpy and hard to control. It is gorgeous though!

On my middle finger, I used 2 coats of Darling Diva Polish The Alchemist, aka the most perfect red holo polish I’ve ever tried. For the dots, I used The Alchemist and Girly Bits Walk Like An Egyptian.

I can’t wait to see what everyone else did for the wrapping paper prompt!

Did anyone else’s parents recycle wrapping paper every year? I swear some years I received presents wrapped in last year’s paper!
