Hydration #JanuaryBeauty

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful Friday so far. 🙂 Today’s #JanuaryBeauty prompt is hydration, and I have to confess something…here is my hydration of choice:

Captain Morgan Spiced Rum | Be Happy And Buy Polish

Oh my gosh, I am so kidding! 😛 Though I am partial to a rum & coke, I really do love to drink water. I’m not a type of person who needs their water to be flavored or anything, just give me ice cold water and I am a happy girl.

This is my water bottle that I use most often. On one side a metal fan says “I’m a huge metal fan” and on the other side a guy says “Me too!”

As you can see, this water bottle gets used a lot. It’s been beat up and dented so many times, but I just can’t find another like it enough to buy a new one.

What do you do to ensure you’re drinking enough water? Any tips to share with me?

Fragrance: Bvlgari Au Thé Rouge #JanuaryBeauty

Hi everyone! I’m back with another prompt for #JanuaryBeauty and this afternoon it’s “fragrance”. I’ll admit, I own very few full bottles of fragrance – mainly because most of the time I don’t like a fragrance enough to buy a full bottle. Those little sample spritzers will suit me just fine, thank you. But the fragrance I want to show you today was a gift from a very kind friend, and it is Bvlgari Eau Parfumée Au Thé Rouge.

Because my nose can’t really differentiate all different kinds of “notes” to perfumes, I looked it up and found that “Eau Parfumee au The Rouge opens with the notes of pink pepper, orange and bergamot followed by red tea and fig, while the trail is sensual and warm; harmonizing the notes of walnut and musk.” I definitely get the red tea and musky notes. It is just a great perfume that goes so well with a lot of my lotions and body scrubs.

What’s your favorite scent? Do you prefer light and fruity, or more sensual and musky?

Worth The Splurge: Tarte Rainforest After Dark #JanuaryBeauty

Purchased by Me buttonGood wonderful afternoon! Today’s #JanuaryBeauty prompt is “Worth the Splurge” and while I don’t pick up a lot of expensive products, I did splurge on the Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette back in November (or October? I have an awful memory).

I had seen and heard so many great reviews of this palette from other beauty bloggers, and I had to get it.

Where to start? I love the natural highlighter (top left) and natural bronzer (top right). The blush (center) is one of my favorites in my whole stash. The gold eyeshadow is used often, as is the light purple and the mid-toned purple. So, is it worth the $38 (current price on Ulta)? Yes, and you should go out and buy it right now!

What’s the last beauty item you splurged on? I’d love to know about it!

Budget Fave #JanuaryBeauty

Good afternoon, wonderful people! For today’s #JanuaryBeauty prompt of ‘budget fave’, I actually have two products for you.

Pure Ice Girl on the Run bottle shot | Be Happy And Buy Polish

First up is a new-to-me budget fave:  Pure Ice’s Girl on the Run. I had heard about this in nail blogging circles and finally picked it up. Oh my gosh! This is an amazing top coat, and it’s only $1.97! I do get a bit of shrinkage, but it’s comparable to Seche Vite in my experience. I even have better dry time that almost all of my top coats.

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes mascara | Be Happy And Buy Polish

Then I have a long-time budget fave: Rimmel London’s Scandal Eyes mascara. I first got this free for review from Influenster, so this is an old tube (why do I keep old tubes of mascara again??) but I re-purchase this on the regular.

What are your budget faves? I’d love to know if there is something awesome that I’m missing out on!

Handbag Beauty #JanuaryBeauty

Hi everyone! How’s your lazy Sunday afternoon going? I hope you are enjoying the day! Today’s prompt for #JanuaryBeauty is “handbag beauty” and my first thought was “no way”. Because, you see, my handbags are all beat-up and in no way, shape, or form ready to be seen on the blog. But then I thought, well, I could share with you a picture of one of my makeup bags!

Handbag Beauty | Be Happy And Buy Polish

This is a pretty bag that I think I received from a freebie Target thing like 2 years ago (so you know I don’t remember any of the details!). I use this to keep all my colored lip balms and stains in. (Well, kind of…I have a lippie problem that’s outgrowing all my bags.)

Do you have any pretty bags that you keep your makeup in?

Healthy Skin with Mario Badescu #JanuaryBeauty

Purchased by Me buttonHey yo! I hope your Saturday afternoon is going swimmingly. For today’s #JanuaryBeauty prompt of “healthy skin”, I’m showing you what I’ve been using lately that my skin is loving. Warning: my makeup-less face is shown below! (Quelle horreur!)

Mario Badescu is a brand that first came on my radar from another beauty blogger (which one, I can’t remember). My skin is pretty sensitive and dry (Montana winters don’t help!), so any skincare I use has to be gentle, yet actually get my skin clean (many times gentle cleansers won’t get makeup off my face). I had been using the Simple Skin Care line, then I picked up a sample set during Ulta’s Thanksgiving Day sale and I was sold.

I use the Keratone Cream Soap in the morning to get off morning sleepies and get my skin ready for the day. I follow up with the Kera Moisturizer – my skin adores this! It soaks it up and my skin feels moisturized but not greasy. Here is my face before makeup and after cleansing and moisturizing:

It used to be that if I washed in the morning & evening, my face would get so dried out, especially around the mouth area I would develop these dry flakes (not attractive, fyi). But I’ve been using this stuff for a month – twice a day – with no flakes! I really do think it’s the much more gentle cleanser in the morning, followed by a gentle moisturizer.

At night, I wash with the Enzyme Cleansing Gel, following up with the toner. I have never been able to use toner before – my skin just hates it! But it doesn’t mind this toner at all. Lastly, I apply the Seaweed Night Cream, a heavier and greasier cream. In the photo below, I’ve also used their Peptide Renewal Serum (before the night cream), which I’m not sold on yet. I only use it once a week or so, any more often and my face seems to break out. Here is my face after cleansing/applying moisturizer:

BTW, that’s my “I’m so happy it’s bedtime because I am so freaking tired and I forgot I was supposed to take a picture of my face” smile. I asked my husband if he had noticed a difference in my skin and he said that he has noticed my skin is not as red and seems smoother, not as rough.

Though Mario Badescu is a little more expensive than what I’m used to paying for a skincare line, it is totally worth it to me. My skin hasn’t felt or looked this good for years. If you’re interested in finding a Mario Badescu product that’s right for you, check out their website. It seems they have a product for every type of skin and concern!

What do you use that makes your skin feel healthy and good?

December Faves #JanuaryBeauty

Good afternoon, my wonderful readers. I hope you enjoyed my blogging resolutions post yesterday, and I thank you for your feedback. I truly appreciate you, the reader, whether you comment or not.

Okay, today’s prompt for #JanuaryBeauty is December Faves. I thought I’d go through my makeup and my polishes and see what I really liked for December.

Sephora Formula X Intergalactic bottle shot | Be Happy And Buy Polish

First up is nail polish, because, umm, this is a mainly a polish blog. 😛 This is Sephora Formula X Intergalactic, a textured polish. You’ll be seeing a swatch of this soon, as well as a nail art look with it.

Lorac Princess Palette | Be Happy And Buy Polish

Next up is Lorac’s Princess Palette (prize). I received the entire Lorac Royal Collection as a prize won from Hey Sabrina Faith. (Say hello to my elbows! LOL) While I used all of them a lot, I really kept going back to the Princess Palette.

Glamour Doll Eyes Dirty 30 | Be Happy And Buy Polish

Glamour Doll Eyes is one of my favorite places to pick up stunning eyeshadows, and I used a lot of GDE shadows in December! Dirty 30 is one of my favorites that I go back to over and over.

Milani Liquid Eye 05 Brown | Be Happy And Buy Polish

Milani Liquid Eye in 05 Brown is a new-to-me eyeliner but I found myself reaching for it over and over again in December.

Buxom mascara Blackest Black | Be Happy And Buy Polish

I have a love/hate relationship with this next product: Buxom mascara. Sometimes I like it and it looks great; sometimes I hate it because it flakes like mad on me! I (obviously) liked it a lot in December though.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm Sultry | Be Happy And Buy Polish

Lastly is one of my favorite lippies that I reach for all the time, no matter what. It’s Revlon’s ColorBurst Matte Balm in Sultry. It’s a matte (duh) red but warm pink undertone, and it totally gives off a retro vibe when I wear it, and I can’t get enough of it. Here’s a swatch of it on the back of my hand:

Well, there’s all my faves from December! What do you think, would you pick up any of these, or have you?
