Lilypad Lacquer Break the Rules nail polish swatch + review

Hello everyone! I’m currently trying to decide which of two different charity runs I’m going to do later on this month. One is a 5k (3.2 miles? something like that), and one is 5 miles. Both are worthwhile charities but one is more expensive than the other. I mean, I know it’s for charity, but…yeah, I’m a cheapskate. 😛 How about we look at Lilypad Lacquer Break the Rules while I’m deciding?

Break the Rules is a holographic multichrome polish with multi colored flakes and green teal shimmer. I see shifts of purple, red, blue, green. 

Lilypad Lacquer Sinner + Flashback swatches + review

Hi there readers! Today I have two Lilypad Lacquer polishes on the blog: Sinner and Flashback. I’m not sure if I’ve ever featured Lilypad Lacquer on the blog today (and honestly, I’m too lazy at the moment to go check!). I picked these up ages ago on a Color4Nails sale.

Sinner is a deep red holographic polish that has a tinge of orange at the edges. Formula was a little thin but had good coverage; it dries satin. This is 2 coats plus top coat.

So this was originally going to be my Valentine’s Day post but after I wrote up the post and scheduled it, it literally disappeared into the ether. 😦 Which made me super frustrated and angry. So I decided to just show it to you at a later date! Let’s check out this soft and sweet gradient with Celestial Cosmetics LE May 2016, Lilypad Lacquer Nice As Spice, Sephora by OPI Ruby Without a Cause, and The Don Deeva Varnish Pony on Acid [gift].

I started off with 2 coats and no top coat of Celestial Cosmetics LE May 2016. Formula is a little thin and sheer but otherwise okay.

Nail Art with Twinkled T Cyclone Nail Vinyls

Good morning everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic Friday. 🙂 Today I have some nail art with Twinkled T Cyclone Nail Vinyls.

Here is what a sheet of them looks like (obviously a few I already used). From my experience, these are not for the faint of heart nor the inexperienced. I had quite the time getting each cyclone peeled off the backing, then I had to stick them carefully on the nail while trying to not get the spirals stuck to each other. I did a full mani with these and it took me almost an hour and a half!

I started off with 3 coats of Ruby Wing Groupie – which is a color changing polish that should shift to deeper pink in the sun (but didn’t). This was a gift from the lovely Michelle from ManicTalons.com. I then laid the cyclone over each nail, then painted over it with Lilypad Lacquer Cool Illusion.

It is very trippy looking, especially in the sunshine, but I’m not sure that I will ever do a full manicure again with these. Possibly as an accent nail in a manicure though!

On my right hand, you’ll see it was harder to place the decals evenly on all the nails.

Well, what do you think? Personally, yes, I think my nails look pretty cool but it’s not worth the frustration for me. Would it be worth the frustration for you?

Lilypad Lacquer Watermarble and ellagee Lickety Split Latex Mani Mask

Good morning, lacquer lovers! It’s Wednesday and you know what that means? Actually, I have no idea what it means, other than it’s another day closer to the weekend. LOL! 😛 Today I have a water marble I created with a few of the Lilypad Lacquer polishes I picked up from llarowe awhile back. This also gave me a chance to test out Lickety Split Latex Mani Mask from ellagee (press sample).

Liquid latex has been all the rage lately in the nail polish community and ellagee is jumping in the game by repackaging the giant bottle of liquid latex into a user friendly nail polish bottle, at a minimal cost. You can see in the above photo that I’ve already painted my nails with my base color (Sinful Colors Snow Me White) and Seche Vite top coat (press sample). Then I painted around each nail (on the skin) with Lickety Split. In the above photo, the dark blue is where it has started to dry, the lighter blue is where it is still wet.

After Lickety Split was dry, I started to do my water marble. You can see in the above photo that I didn’t paint far enough down on my finger and consequently that finger was a pain to clean up! But the rest of the fingers? Boy that latex just peeled right off (and there was something oddly satisfying about doing that, let me tell you) and I was left with very minimal cleanup around each nail.

So onto how the water marble turned out! I used Lilypad Lacquer Lime Lifesaver, Orange Lifesaver, Lemon Lifesaver, and I wanted a bit of red so I used Dermelect Power Trip (reviewed previously).

Even in natural light it looked super bright! I absolutely adore how this turned out, and I ended up doing both hands. The Lilypad Lacquers ended up working really great for water marbling, I can’t wait to buy more!

If you do any kind of nail art (splatter, gradients, watermarbles, etc), I think you definitely need Lickety Split Latex Mani Mask from ellagee. Just trust me: it will make your nail art so much easier that you’re not dealing with cleanup!
