Current mani time! I received my Polish Pickup Pack order yesterday and after waiting for polishes to warm up, I couldn’t wait to use Moonflower Polish Ken, I Pink I Love You. It’s so freaking hot and it’s helping me stay warm since I’m freaking cold and hibernating. 😀

I’m trying to remember where I saw a video tutorial of this, I think it was yagala on instagram? (I’ll link if I find it!) Anyway, it’s a really nifty way of creating a design for nails. You start with a coat of your polish, then let it dry. Then add a second (usually thicker) coat, and while it is runny, add a drop of your polish in the vague shape you want. Then outline with another color!

Another current mani, though I’m getting horrid tip-wear with Tile Art to Warm Your Heart so who knows how long it’ll stay. I was inspired by this manicure from chitchatnails.

Camouflage Nail Art with Polish ‘M, LA Colors, and Moonflower Polish

Polishes used:
Polish ‘M Burlap Beauty, 3 coats. Coverage was a bit sheer but it was good in 3 coats.
LA Colors Cobalt, 2 coats. Formula was really nice on this, if I would have been more careful, I could have just done 1 coat.
Moonflower Polish Sparkling Water
1 coat of matte top coat

This is my current mani, though I think I might take it off later today. But! I’m so excited because I just finished editing all the photos in my dock, which is like 15 manicures and 5 makeup looks. I spent all day basically getting it done but now it’s done and all is left is typing posts up. Which is a little depressing to think about that work but let’s focus on the good stuff. 😀

Opposing Stripes Manicure with Moonflower Polish and Polished for Days

Polishes used:
1 coat of base polish
Polished For Days Solar Flare (April 2018 Polish Pickup Pack), 2 coats plus 2 coats top coat. This is a blackened base polish that shifts from orange to green, with orange to green flakies and with scattered holographic effect. I did need two coats of top coat for a smooth finish. It wasn’t exactly rough after 1 coat, but it wasn’t super shiny smooth.
Moonflower Polish Dip in the Pool, 2 coats, a bright green-blue with blue shimmer. This could have been a One-Coat Wonder. I was worried about nail staining so I doubled up on base coat on my right hand. When I removed it, I did not have any staining.
1 coat of quick-dry top coat

I was thinking about how how people perceive me versus how I perceive myself. Especially as a mom (who drives a minivan), especially now that I’m 40. I know that when I was younger, I saw all moms who drove minivans as hopelessly out-of-touch, lame, with their “mom” haircuts and “mom” jeans. But conversely, if they looked too hip, then they were “trying too hard”. Man, can I go back in time and slap some sense into myself? >.<

It’s the simple pleasures in life, right? Like seeing a beautiful rainbow after a storm. Now that we don’t live in the city proper, having an afternoon thunderstorm blow through is such a sight to behold. One of the best things about living in Montana is the big beautiful sky that allows you to see for miles and miles; seeing a thunderstorm from so far away and then coming through and then seeing a rainbow afterwards…sigh. It’s just so comforting to me.
