Okay so when I was in Hot Topic the other day looking at polish, I saw this eyeshadow palette sitting there and dang it, for once I was just gonna buy something just because it looks pretty and not worry about reviews. Should I have been impulsive or not? Read on!

Makeup of the Day with Tarte Rainforest After Dark and Nyx Intense Butter Gloss Berry Strudel

Hi everyone! I told you I wasn’t going to shy away from doing my makeup & showing it on the blog and I’m holding true to my word. This is my makeup of the day with Tarte Rainforest After Dark eyeshadow palette and NYX Cosmetics Intense Butter Gloss in Berry Strudel. Funnily enough, the last time I showed a makeup look with the Tarte palette, it was almost the same kind of look and I had my hair pulled back! LOL. 

Glamour Doll Eyes Insider Look with IT’S SO FLUFFY, Sex Appeal, Tattooed Remix

Morning all! I have my third Glamour Doll Eyes insider look of the month to show you with the eyeshadows IT’S SO FLUFFY, Sex Appeal, and Tattooed Remix. Glamour Doll Eyes is an indie makeup company that pretty much rocks. I’ve been a fan for several years.

IT’S SO FLUFFY is a white-pink shimmer eyeshadow with blue sparkles. Described on the site: “sheer pale pink with a golden purple shift and blue sparkle.” Check out a previous insider post for arm swatches.

Sex Appeal is described by the site as “a gorgeous sparkle overlay of teal with a dark purple undertone.” [My bad, I didn’t get a separate pic of this!]

Tattooed Remix is a blurple eyeshadow (more purple than my photo) with green & gold sparkle. Described by the site as “a blue based purple with a pinky copper sheen and gold & green sparkle.” Check out my colored eyebrow post for arm swatches.

I used IT’S SO FLUFFY all over. I built up Tattooed Remix on my lid; applied it, blended it, applied, blended, etc ad nauseum.

Smokey Eye Look with Tarte Cosmetics Rainforest After Dark palette

Hi everyone! I haven’t shared a makeup look with you in *forever* so I thought I’d share today’s look! I’m actually really chuffed on how it turned out, so read through to the end and let me know what you think in the comments. 🙂

All the shadows are from the Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette, which is a huge staple in my makeup looks. I started with Too Faced Shadow Insurance, then applied NYX cosmetics Strawberry Milk as a sticky base.

I then used Bare to Explore (light pink-purple) all over the lid into the crease and blended out. On the lash line into the crease in a curve, I used Make a Mauve (next over from Bare to Explore).

Then I used Plum Away With Me (next over from Make a Mauve) on the outside corner. (Of course, I blended out after each step.) Lastly, for a bit of brightness, I used Up to No Gold on the center of the lid.

I used Revlon Kohl eyeliner and lined my waterline – something I haven’t done in a hot minute but I need to get back into. I used Buxom mascara to finish off my eye look.

I also used the highlighter (Champagne), blush (Unleashed), and bronzer (Park Ave Princess) from the Tarte palette, they are just so gosh-darned flattering! For my lips, I started off with NYX Cosmetics soft matte lip cream in Abu Dhabi and topped it with MUFE Artist Plexi-Gloss in Sweet Pink.

If you’d like to see how I did my hair for today, I used this tutorial for a braided updo by Hair Romance, which I pinned to my Curly Hair ‘Dos board on pinterest (a lot of essentials there, so follow me!). It says it’s “fancy” but with my curly hair, it can look kinda messy. 😛

I know this is kind of a long post, but I was so excited that my hair AND makeup were on point today. 🙂 Do you get excited when your whole look is killing it?

EOTD with Japonesque Velvet Touch Eyeshadow

Good afternoon! I hope you are having a great day so far. I have a review and eye of the day (EOTD) with Japonesque Velvet Touch Eyeshadow in shade 03.

First off, I have to say how much I love the packaging. Look how pretty this is!

It’s nice how big this compact is, no wasted spaced here! I experienced no fallout with this shade, it was just very silky smooth to apply.

A quick swatch on the back of my hand, it’s a little shimmery and it’s like my skin tone but better. LOL!

I’ve used it on my brow bone and inner corner, with tarte Make a Mauve (Rainforest After Dark palette) on my lid blended out.

I also used Laura Geller GlamLASH mascara, and Laura Geller luscious lips liquid lipstick in Cherry Almond. (Holy smokes, please ignore the redness on my chest!)

I found the quality to be very good, but of course, you’re paying $18 for one eyeshadow, for .05 oz of product. Is this something I would spend the money on? I probably would not as I prefer to splurge on palettes (when I get the chance to splurge). You can find this currently on Amazon.

Worth The Splurge: Tarte Rainforest After Dark #JanuaryBeauty

Good wonderful afternoon! Today’s #JanuaryBeauty prompt is “Worth the Splurge” and while I don’t pick up a lot of expensive products, I did splurge on the Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette back in November (or October? I have an awful memory).

I had seen and heard so many great reviews of this palette from other beauty bloggers, and I had to get it.

Where to start? I love the natural highlighter (top left) and natural bronzer (top right). The blush (center) is one of my favorites in my whole stash. The gold eyeshadow is used often, as is the light purple and the mid-toned purple. So, is it worth the $38 (current price on Ulta)? Yes, and you should go out and buy it right now!

What’s the last beauty item you splurged on? I’d love to know about it!
