I was scrolling through my instagram feed the other day when I saw that a fellow makeup lover had posted pics of the Hot Topic Sanguis Draconis eyeshadow palette and highlighter she had bought, which reminded me that I hadn’t posted the pictures of swatches and makeup looks I had created with the eyeshadow palette. Let’s rectify that today, okay?
Let’s talk about this packaging because it is intense! I took these pictures in lower daylight and the colors just popped out. In the sunlight, it’s even more crazy! So A+ on packaging.
From top to bottom: Majestic Beauty, Thunder, Golden Egg, Wings of Fire, Moon Lighter
From top to bottom: Sanctum, Guardian, Wisdom, Eldersblood, Dragon Heart
The colors I think performed the best were the more buttery soft shades: Majestic Beauty, Golden Egg, Wings of Fire, Moon Lighter, and Wisdom. Wisdom is like my skin but warmer shade. 😛 It is swatched above but it’s so hard to see. 😀
The darker shades were dry and patchy and hard to blend out: Thunder, Sanctum, Guardian, Dragon Heart.
Let me preface this by saying ultimately, I love this highlighter and I’ve been using it almost every time I do my makeup. BUT. It dries very fast and is hard to blend once dry; the applicator is almost impossible to get any product out which is seriously frustrating. It is a gorgeous rose gold color though.
The first look I created with this, I kind of had a derp moment and forgot to take close up pictures of my eye. *face palm* I used Wisdom, Golden Egg, Wings of Fire, and Majestic Beauty.
I paired this with Jordana Sweet Cream Matte is Cinnamon Toast and Nyx Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cherry Skies.
For this second look, I remember to take close up photos! 😛 I used Moon Lighter, Thunder, Dragon Heart, Golden Egg, and Wings of Fire.
I paired this with Maybelline Metallic lipstick in Serpentine. I haven’t used this is so long and I’d forgotten how beautiful it is (but how much of a PITA it is to apply).
Overall, I think I’d give this palette a B? I purchased it for $16.90 USD at Hot Topic.
P.S. I shaved the side of my head, what do you think?? I absolutely love it and I’m so glad I took a chance on it.
